History

When the St. Saviours Church Became a Cathedral in 1976 following the creation of Ijebu Anglican Diocese, it was the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba S. K. Adetona in his address to the first Synod who drew the attention to the need to have a bigger building. that was on April 28, 1977. There was hesitation initially because the building (Now Church Hall) was so designed that there was no pillers blocking the views of members of the congregation. It would require the expertise of a brilliant architect to sketch new one and convince the church authority. But at last, a parishioner in the person of Chief Afolabi Kuku designed a drawing that was eventually accepted and on Saturday June 10, 2000 the foundation laying ceremony of the new building was performed during the episcopacy of Rt. Rev. (Prof.) J. Akin Omoyajowo and the Provostship of Ver Rev. E. Ayo Awosoga. Engr. Adeoye Fowora was appointed the chairman of the New Cathedral Building Committee until his death on Sunday April 11, 2010. He was succeeded in that office by Prof. Olajide Ajayi.

The new structure of the Cathedral Church of Our Saviour, Ita-Olowajoda, Ijasi, Ijebu-Ode was dedicated on 30th June, 2012
